Army Worm Prevention
If you had a lawn in August or September of 2021, you probably remember the armyworm invasion. It was unlike anything we had ever seen before. Lawns across the country were affected, and we received many questions like, “Why did this happen to me?”
Unfortunately, there’s no definitive answer. Some believe the extreme summer heat played a role. Since armyworms are more active in warmer weather, the theory is that higher temperatures may have contributed to the outbreak. But the truth is, we may never know for sure.
Because we didn’t know what caused such a severe spike in armyworm activity, there was no clear way to prevent it at the time. That has changed.
Starting in spring 2022, King GREEN began offering a season-long preventative treatment. If your lawn was affected during the infestation, or even if it wasn’t, this treatment can help protect your property from serious damage. Fall armyworms can chew through an entire lawn in just a few days, which makes timely prevention critical.
HERE’S A VISUAL EXAMPLE:
Two pictures were taken at the same time, on the same day, in different parts of the same yard. The only difference? A driveway separating the two areas. One side was devastated by armyworms, while the other remained untouched. That’s how quickly the damage can spread.
The best way to avoid this happening again is to sign up for King GREEN’s Army Worm Prevention program.
Feel free to call or email us with any questions. We're happy to help you stay ahead of the next infestation.
