Chamberbitter Control

Chamberbitter, also known as mimosa weed or niruri, can be frustratingly persistent if not properly managed. It typically emerges in mid to late summer, once soil temperatures are warm enough for it to thrive.

In its early stages, chamberbitter resembles mimosa seedlings. As it matures, it develops into a small shrub. While it’s considered a nuisance in lawns, it has also been used as an herbal remedy for kidney stones in parts of South America and Asia.

Unfortunately, pre-emergent herbicides do not always prevent chamberbitter from appearing. Effective control depends on proper timing and consistent treatment. If chamberbitter germinates despite the pre-emergent barrier, repeated applications of post-emergent herbicides are usually successful in eliminating it.

Keep in mind that this treatment is only effective if the weed is addressed early in its growth cycle.
