Getting Rid Of Wasps

Spring is the time when paper wasps begin setting up their nests around your home. It’s not uncommon to find them starting nests under eaves, decks, or other sheltered areas.

The queens hide through the winter and emerge as the weather warms. They begin building nests and laying eggs to establish new colonies.

Paper wasps are actually beneficial insects and rarely cause problems unless they nest close to areas where people are active.

Now is the best time to keep an eye out, while nests are still small. Catching them early can help you avoid getting startled or stung once the colony grows.

If you’d like to handle wasps yourself, use an aerosol spray with a quick knockdown effect. Always stand to the side of the nest, not directly underneath, when spraying.

As a King GREEN IPM customer, we inspect for and destroy any wasp colonies we find on your home during our quarterly visits. We also remove the nests after extermination so new colonies are less likely to return. If a nest is too high, it may be beyond the reach of our removal poles.

If you have an immediate concern about wasps or other insects, please let us know. We’ll respond quickly to help.
