How To Treat Dollar Spot Grass Disease

Dollar Spot, commonly found when humidity levels and temperatures combine to total 150 or more, is a grass disease and form of fungus pathogens that appear in Bermuda and Zoysia lawns. Dollar Spot grass disease can be recognized by 2" diameter or smaller tan spots in your lawn. If left unchecked, the spots may grow together to produce large, irregular brown areas. Infected leaf blades have light-tan lesions with reddish-brown borders. These lesions take on an hourglass shape. You may also notice cobweb-like mycelium when your grass is wet with dew. Susceptible grasses include Bermuda and Zoysia.Dollar Spot grass disease is more aggressive when your turf is under-fertilized. Call a King Green professional to make an appointment to determine if the problem can be resolved with the proper application of fertilizer.Preventative applications for Dollar Spot grass disease are not economical. If you notice these spots in your lawn, we can help control them with supplemental fungicide application. The supplemental applications are usually good for three weeks. We recommend a minimum of two applications, three weeks apart to control this grass disease, but more may be necessary. Because of the expense of additional product, there will be an additional charge to your normal maintenance.
